Pool Fencing
Melbourne
Frameless glass, semi-frameless and aluminium pool fencing built to Victoria's pool-safety rules, with the certificate of compliance lodged on every job.
A pool fence is the part you can see. A compliant barrier is the part that gets signed off.
Most quotes sell you glass and leave the compliance risk sitting with you. In Victoria a pool barrier is not finished when the glass goes in. It is finished when a registered inspector signs a Certificate of Barrier Compliance and you lodge it with your council. We build for that outcome first, then we sell you the fence.

What each barrier material does to each rule
Tap through each requirement to see it on the barrier, then tick the ones your pool already meets. This is the sequence a registered inspector follows, offered as general guidance.
The barrier must measure at least 1200mm from the finished ground or paving to the top of the fence. Every low point around the pool is measured, so a garden bed or retaining wall can quietly drop you under.
Guidance only, current at time of writing. The Victorian Building Authority function is moving to the Building and Plumbing Commission. Confirm the current requirements and the standard that applies to your pool with your council and a registered inspector.
Every option below meets the standard. The difference is the look.

12mm toughened glass held by discreet stainless spigots, no posts and no top rail. The clearest, most open look, and the one buyers ask for by name.

The numbers behind a compliant barrier
Every barrier is engineered to AS 1926.1-2012 and installed with marine-grade hardware. This is the drawing an inspector reads.

Whichever barrier you choose, it runs on the same cycle
Under the Victorian Building Regulations 2018, a pool or spa that can hold water 300mm deep or more is on a compliance cycle, not a one-time sign-off. This is the general shape of it, current at time of writing.
Register
Register your pool or spa barrier with your local council, a legal requirement for every Victorian pool.
Certify
A registered inspector assesses the barrier against AS 1926.1 and, if it passes, issues a Certificate of Barrier Compliance.
Lodge in 30 days
The certificate is typically lodged with council within 30 days of the inspection so your barrier is on record.
Re-certify
Barriers are typically re-inspected and re-certified on a four-year cycle. We flag when yours is due.
General guidance, not legal advice. Timeframes and the applicable standard depend on your pool and your council. Confirm the current process with your council and a registered inspector before you rely on any date here.
